The Burnished Forest - Utah
Near to, but not in, the riverbeds of southern Utah's many creek and river systems grow these amazing trees and bushes. The manzanita tree has an unmistakable outer bark; alternating streaks of burnished red-copper and stripes of grey driftwood-like bark. This dichotomy of color and texture make these bushes quit easy to notice. And when they are wet from a rain or dew, the streaks of polished red wood appears electric, like it was lit from within.
