Oceans - hart images
Always Remember - Thailand

This tranquil beach, on the western coast of Thailand, was the terrifying stage for the 'Boxing Day' tsunami of 2004, which killed 230,000 people in 14 countries. Scientific date place this ocean floor earthquake at magnitude 9.2, the energy generated was equivalent to 550 million Hiroshima bombs, and research shows that the entire planet measurably vibrated.

Now, looking toward the calm flat line between sky and sea, it is impossible to imagine a singular wall of water (90 feet high) that stretched across the entire horizon. This image was taken right in front of a five-star resort which has become home for monkeys, vines, and spiders - its luxury in ruins, the mosaic pools filled with living plants and sand, the jungle reclaiming its own.
