West Wall of Nuptse, Khumbu Valley - Nepal The West Face of Nuptse, part of the ring of peaks that forms the Everest cirque, stands at 7,742 meters - and has only been climbed once. In 1997 two climbers from Slovenia, Tomaz Humar and Janez Jeglic, spent four terrifying days on wall, climbing without camps in alpine-style. Once on the summit ridge, Jeglic torn from the mountain in the hurricane winds, leaving Tomaz to descend, frostbitten and weak, alone.
