The Great Himalaya - Nepal On the left, Everest peaks over the top of the Lhotse ridge. And on the right, the south face of Lhotse sweeps into the dark sky, with a spectacular 9,000 ft face made of fluted ribs of snow and rock buttresses. This wicked face was only first climbed in 1990, by the Soviet USSR Himalayan expedition.
