Mayan Ruins, Tulum - Mexico
Tulum is an expansive pre-Columbian Maya site, one of the best-preserved, along the southern coast of the Yucatan Penninsula. Some of the structures there have been dated to 1600 AD. Tradescantia spathacea (the green and purple plant) dominates the foliage that creeps between the rubble of the limestone ruins. The striking plant in the background is Purple Heart.
