Mandarin Fish, Komodo Island - Indonesia For about a half hour each day, just as the sun is setting, these tiny (6cm) picturesque fish emerge from the broken shells and staghorn corals to dance with their mates. Male mandarin fish will patrol the broken floor for a suitable female. Once they have found each other they align themselves belly-to-belly and together, slowly rise about one meter above the reef. Once they are at the peak of their ascent, they will release sperm and a cloud of eggs, and then disappear in a flash.
Staghorn Coral and Family - Indonesia An errant yellow damsel fish stands out against the crowd of juvenile damsels, dancing in and out of the aptly named Staghorn coral.
Beach Cruiser, San Pedro - Belize Bicycles here are single speed and held together with a crinkly patina of rust. They may be the most popular form of transportation on the island, but they are also the squeakiest.
