    Aspen and Lava, Owyhee Canyonlands - Idaho

South of a small private dirt path (with the peculiar name of 'Dickshooter Road') deep within the Owyhee Canyonlands, there is a stream that splits a wide acreage of tumbled basalt stone. In the spring, the stream flows, the trees become green, and for a short period of time - the desert blooms.

Each spring, in certain areas of the lower desert of the Owyhee Canyonlands, wild iris bloom in incredible numbers - their purple and yellow streaked faces can be seen for miles, often times mistaken for small flat pools of water - like a mirage.
