Prairie Smoke

Prairie Smoke, Stanley Basin - Idaho

Early morning in the Stanley Basin - the grasses still cold and wet from the night, and the distant mountains warm and dry - kissed by the morning sun. The odd flower in the foreground is called Prairie Smoke (Geum triflorum) and, until discovered by Lewis and Clark in 1806, was previously unknown to science.
