Sticks and Stones, Canyon Creek - Idaho

Here, at Canyon Creek (the headwaters of the south fork of the Payette River) stands the bony blackened skeletons of a large forest fire from the late 1980's. As you can see, the return of a lush green forest is indeed a long process. But here, even in the heat of summer, the wildflowers are crazy healthy along the shores of the river. When the soil has been disturbed by fire, it seems that wildflowers return quickly, and in abundance.
